Ryan P. Delaney is the founder of the Delaney & Robb Law Firm. A lifelong resident of the New Orleans metropolitan area, he has very strong ties to Southeast Louisiana. Ryan graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University in 2003 with a B.S. in Biology. He then enrolled at Loyola College of Law in 2005, becoming part of the “Katrina Class.” While at Loyola, Ryan was an active leader in Student Bar Association as well as participating in the New Orleans District Attorney’s Office Legal Clinic. He graduated from Loyola College of Law in 2008 and was admitted to the Louisiana Bar the same year.
After years of keeping the issue to himself and never truly being his authentic self, Ryan was able to “come out” to his family and friends in early 2009. After practicing in several areas of law, including personal injury, insurance defense, and collection law, Ryan was never satisfied. Although the legal field was rewarding to him, Ryan’s personal goal has been to make a positive difference for people and for families. He wanted to go in a different direction where he could get out of the traditional, often overly confrontational, legal environment.
As a member of the LGBT community, Ryan began studying the general state of LGBT law and specifically how to serve clients in a state where same-sex couples are denied the legal recognition of marriage and are further deprived of many rights enjoyed by opposite-sex couples. Using the legal tools available in Louisiana, Ryan will work to protect LGBT individuals and their loved ones and to serve the specific needs of LGBT clients. Most importantly, Ryan wants to be the attorney the LGBT community can trust, where people will feel comfortable approaching him with the LGBT-specific issues relating to children, inheritance, medical powers of attorney, employment discrimination, and other issues unique to LGBT citizens and their families.
Ryan also serves as City Prosecutor for the City of Ponchatoula.
